If you’ve been watching the news in the alternative fuels space, then chances are you’re aware that we’ll soon be seeing flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) as a common name. FFVs are vehicles that can run on gasoline and a gasoline blend, such as E85, which is 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol, a substance which is touted as being environmentally and economically friendly.

 

The issue, however, remains that in most part of the US, FFVs aren’t necessarily a demand because E85 is not widely distributed. Consequently, there is a push for more availability of the alternative fuel and bigger car companies are promising to produce for FFVs in an effort to raise awareness and, in turn, hope for retail E85 nationally.

 

But for those consumers who have access to the alternative fuel yet do not want to purchase a brand new car, there is good news. ABCesso Technology announced recently that they are making available their conversion kit called AutoFFV, a solution designed to convert gasoline-only vehicles into functioning FFVs.

 

Originally available only in Brazil, AutoFFV is completely automatic with no fuel selection switch. The management system recognizes the "lambda probe" signal and automatically adjusts to whichever fuel is being used in any proportion from E85 down to all gasoline.

 

Countries around the globe have numerous vehicles running on ethanol today. While the idea of using ethanol for fuel is not new, it’s becoming more attractive to the public as our dependence on gasoline becomes increasingly more expensive. What’s more, ethanol fuel reduces carbon dioxide, a major contributor to global warming, and the result is a much cleaner burning fuel that is just as efficient as standard fuels. The mixture is optimized for a combination of clean exhaust and efficiency. Ethanol also absorbs moisture and helps prevent gas-line freeze-up in cold weather.

 

AutoFFV has been developed with processors and software to enable multi-port and digital injection systems and maintains optimum oxygen-to-fuel mixture to produce the most efficient and economical combustion for the vehicle.

 

AutoFFV maintains the originality of vehicles and it can be replaced or taken out at anytime.
