Today, the company announced they have completed enhancements to their network nationwide and now offer their customers faster speeds that meet their everyday needs--like the ability to upload files such a music or email attachments at a much faster rate.
To make this possible, all of their CDMA
1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) networks have been enhanced to Revision (Rev.) A technology.
The benefits offered by Rev.A technology include fast packet establishment and improvements in both downlink and uplink speeds as well as air interface enhancements that reduce latency.
Specifically, the newly enhanced network will allow Verizon Wireless customers to download files at speeds as much as "ten times faster than customers of other wireless service providers that use different, broadly deployed network technologies," a news release noted.
Benefiting from the network enhancement is the company's BroadBand Access data service which will include an overall better experience for customers who can download at much faster rates, with average download speeds of 500-800 kpbs.
"When other carriers still operate networks that don’t allow customers to download music over-the-air or access e-mail at speeds faster than dial-up, Verizon Wireless is meeting the needs of more than 210 million people with wireless music downloads, faster access to email and true wireless broadband internet browsing." David Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless commented in a statement.
