DeFi Mobile announced a partnership with Double U to market DeFi’s mobile offerings in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region. As per the partnership agreement, DeFi will position Double U as the premium marketing and service provider to market DeFi Global Access in the MENA region.
DeFi Mobile recently launched DeFi Global Access, a service that allows subscribed members to make and receive unlimited phone calls from around the world through Wireless Fidelity (WiFi ( News - Alert)) access to its carrier-grade global Internet Protocol (IP) network. The service, along with a number of communication features, is offered at a monthly flat fee of $40.
According to DeFi, Global Access offers many advantages over standard mobile voice over IP (VoIP) solutions. It delivers superior call quality, eliminating the “jitter” and dropped calls commonly found in many services. Unlike their competitor’s services that require their users to purchase WiFi separately, DeFi allows its members automatically connect to commercial WiFi access points worldwide.
By using DeFi Mobile services, customers can avoid very high long-distance and roaming fees often levied by cellular network providers. The service includes many features such as voicemail-to-e-mail, caller-ID, call forwarding, call-hold and call-transfer - all with feature-rich support.
Another feature of DeFi Global Access is that its members can continue to use their same cellular provider phone numbers, because DeFi members use dual mode smart phones (Nokia ( News - Alert) E & N series) that are both WiFi and cellular capable.
“The power of DeFi in the MENA region has great promise, as millions of people in every country in the region expand their reliance on mobile communication and business services,” said Ayman Jomaa, managing partner, Double U, in a statement.
DeFi Mobile services are especially attractive to people because of their quality of service and cost-effective factors, Jomaa further said. Also, the special features of DeFi mobile application give it a very strong edge over many existing applications that require mobile experts to install and operate, he commented.
Double U is one of the largest providers of technology, applications, mobile content, and consulting services in the MENA region. Double U partnership with DeFi will focus initially on 15 countries in the MENA region: Egypt, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Jordan, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Kuwait, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, Nigeria, Oman, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Syria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The list will expand in the near future as the two companies scale this partnership, a media statement said.
“The sophistication and success of Double U in the MENA region make them an excellent and exciting partner for DeFi Mobile,” said Jeff Rice ( News - Alert), chief executive officer and co-founder of DeFi Mobile, in a statement. “Double U is respected by governments, businesses and individuals in every country in which they operate, giving our partnership a significant competitive advantage that will quickly broaden the impact of DeFi in the MENA region.”
