BelAir Networks Receives Certification for Wireless Mesh Products from SpectraLink

By Laura Stotler, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BelAir Networks is the first wireless mesh network provider to receive Voice Interoperability for Enterprise Wireless (VIEW) Certification from SpectraLink Corp. The VIEW Certification is a partner program that aims to ensure interoperability and maximum performance for enterprise WiFi infrastructure products supporting the SpectraLink NetLink Wireless Telephones.

The program provides lab testing of interoperability and performance of NetLink Wireless Telephones with BelAir Networks WiFi (News - Alert) infrastructure products to test compatibility in an enterprise environment. The four-radio BelAir 200 Wireless Multi-service Switch Router, the dual-radio BelAir100 Multi-service Node and the single-radio BelAir50C products have been certified by SpectraLink. The products offer high performance interoperability with SpectraLink handsets and WLAN infrastructure.

BelAir Networks integrates QoS and voice prioritization on its switched mesh architecture to optimize voice over WiFi for networks, scaling from enterprise to carrier-grade coverage. The SpectraLink wireless phones offer functionality to support enterprise applications running on converged voice and data networks.

“Interoperability with WiFi mesh networks allows us to address many customers' need for both outdoor and indoor coverage, as well as broaden our reach into new markets,” said Masood Garahi, SpectraLink CTO and executive vice president of engineering, in a press release. “BelAir Networks’ commitment to delivering high quality voice support on their mesh networks makes them an important partner for SpectraLink.”

“SpectraLink’s VIEW Certification underscores our commitment to providing the industry's best voice support in a multi-service mesh network,” said Jim Freeze, SVP of Marketing and Alliances for BelAir Networks. “Voice services are key to building a strong business case for wireless mesh networks.”
