By Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributing Editor

SMC Networks (News - Alert), developer of networking solutions for small and medium sized business (SMB), has introduced its new SMC Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router (SMCWBR14-N2). The Barricade N router is ideal for both home and office use and perfect networking solution for connecting and sharing high speed cable/xDSL Internet connections.

Barricade N Draft is ‘Works with Windows Vista’ and ‘WiFi CERTIFIED’ for interoperability. The router integrates a high-speed Wireless-N access point, 4-port 10/100 switch, firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), intelligent stream handling technology and a user friendly Web-based management interface to offer the high speed, coverage, and bandwidth benefits of 802.11n in a platform independent, multi-functional router.

Such resourcefulness helps the new SMCWBR14-N2 Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router deliver excellent performance even with demanding applications like online gaming, high-definition video streaming, file sharing and VoIP.

In addition, the router integrates intelligent stream handling technology to manage and prioritize the flow of traffic in wireless or wired local area networks (LAN) as well as going to the Internet.

Also, Barricade N is compatible with the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption standards to prevent unauthorized access to wireless networks. The WiFi (News - Alert) Protected Setup (WPS) facilitates PIN-configuration for easy Wireless security setup.

“The SMCWBR14-N2 Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router is ideal for customers looking for easy data flow management,” said James Harris, Product Manager, SMC Networks. “It automatically manages the flow of data in the local network or going to the Internet, without needing manual configuration to ensure that time-sensitive applications run smoothly.”
