Navigating Tax and Compliance with SkySwitch at Annual Vectors Conference

By Alex Passett April 19, 2024

Deftly navigating the unsteady waters of tax and compliance — particularly within the Unified Communications (News - Alert) as a Service (UCaaS) industry — can prove challenging for many businesses. Actionable guidance for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements would be helpful, right?

Sure, it would. That’s why SkySwitch, a BCM One company and premier white-label UCaaS platform provider, set up a conference session for precisely this topic at SkySwitch Vectors 2024, its annual signature event for white-label UCaaS partners.

In the Griffin Ballroom of the beautiful JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, this tax and compliance session took place. Moderated by Jenn Nading, Executive Vice President of UCaaS Operations at SkySwitch, there were four knowledgeable panelists featured:

As Nading led the conversation, we jotted down a few great quotes with the panelists’ insights before the session wrapped up. (Though we can’t share everything; for more info, visit SkySwitch’s website and check back later this summer for announcements of 2025’s Vectors experience.)

So, the session’s tax and compliance expert quotes. See below:

  • “Compliance helps you prepare yourself and your customers responsibly,” Connolley stated. (Lest non-compliance lead to hefty fines, audits, etc.)
  • “Take every precaution you can,” Valladares said. “Even if protections seem cumbersome to customers at first, do it. It’s such an important step to take.”
  • “Damages aren’t limited to fines incurred,” Amos and Burlingame added. “There’s more at risk, like reputational damages that erode customer trust. You have to stay apprised of specific taxes on telecom services that specifically impact UCaaS, data privacy regulations, the right messaging restrictions and blocking mechanisms to employ, and other kinds of vetting and validating when it comes to partners’ brands.”
