Taylor Institute Bestows Direct Marketer Of The Year Award

This past Tuesday, May 15, 2007, Lester Wunderman, Chairman Emeritus and Founder of Wunderman was presented with the 2006 Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing Direct Marketer of the Year Award. The award was presented to Wunderman at the Interaction 2007 conference held at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.


 
The Direct Marketer of the Year Award was implemented to recognize individuals who have made a significant, continuous contribution to the field of direct marketing throughout a long and distinguished career.Winners of this award are pioneers who have revolutionized the direct marketing industry and promoted new advances and innovative strategies in interactive marketing moving the industry into the future.


 
“Mr. Wunderman is a luminary in the direct marketing industry and a major force during the last half-century. We are thrilled at the opportunity to stand on the same stage to present him with the Direct Marketer of the Year Award,” said Dr. Dale Lewison, interim director of The Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing.
 
In 1958 Wunderman founded of one of the world’s leading global direct marketing advertising agencies, Wunderman, and is a driving force behind the growth of the industry. He is credited with identifying, naming and defining the term ‘direct marketing’. Currently Wunderman serves as Director of i-Behavior, a premier provider of database targeting services.
 
Established in 2004 through the support of University of Akron Alumni Gary Taylor, founder and chairman of InfoCision Management Corporation (www.infocision.com) and his wife Karen, The Gary L. and Karen S. Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing in the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron is the first institute of its kind in the country dedicated to the direct marketing field. Providing the first undergraduate program if its kind, The Institute is the most sophisticated direct marketing school in the country providing students with a state of the art facility featuring laboratories in telecommunications, TV infomercials, direct response, e-marketing, and marketing analytics.
