Sangoma Attending AstriCon 2013 this Week to Discuss WebRTC

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) Corporation has a pretty full October planned. After kicking off the month with the release of its new Vega Video Multipoint Control Unit, the company is also attending not one, but two major technology conferences over the next couple weeks. In fact, it is currently exhibiting its latest hardware and software innovations at the AstriCon User Conference and Expo, which is scheduled to run until Thursday at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and Convention Center in Atlanta, GA. Starting Monday, the company also showcase its Elastix (News - Alert)-certified solutions as a Gold Sponsor of ElastixWorld 2013.

"AstriCon and ElastixWorld provide great opportunities for Sangoma to contribute to and connect with the open source community," said Nenad Corbic, vice president of software development at Sangoma. "These events bring an array of vendors, developers and users that generate a great deal of creativity and bring new insights into the communications solutions landscape. We are very excited to once again be a part of these events, and to participate in their excellent educational programs."

Since AstriCon is this week, let’s focus on that event. AstriCon aims to “expand awareness and knowledge of Asterisk,” an open source framework that lets developers build communications applications for IP PBX (News - Alert), VoIP gateways, conference servers and custom phone apps.

Sangoma’s most recent offering in support of Asterisk is Lyra Answering Machine Detection (AMD (News - Alert)), which allows system developers to integrate sophisticated dialer analytics features into Aterisk-based platforms. The software package features a unique set of call progress analytics based on specialized neural network algorithms to ensure outbound call center agents only get connected to productive calls.

At AstriCon, however, Sangoma’s attention will be focused elsewhere as Moises Silva, the company’s manager of software engineering, will discuss the operation of WebRTC through the Asterisk platform in a program entitled "Implementation Lessons using WebRTC in Asterisk." This session is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Back at ITEXPO (News - Alert) Miami 2013, TMCnet’s Rachel Ramsey caught up with Jeff Dworkin, director of Marketing at Sangoma to talk about WebRTC, UC and SBC. Dworkin predicted WebRTC would see growth over the next few years. Check out that video below.
