Neudesic Pulse Provides Social Enterprise Software without Creating Another Silo

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Web Editor

“Social” is one of the biggest buzzwords in the tech space these days, from the IPO of social networking giant to the latest celebrity tweets on micro-blogging site Twitter (News - Alert). But the social revolution has not left the business world alone, of course, and, with news breaking recently about Microsoft’s acquisition of Yammer, an enterprise social networking company, chatter about the intersection between business and social has been louder than ever.

In an exclusive interview with TMC (News - Alert), Ramin Vosough, vice president of products at Neudesic, spoke about the acquisition of Yammer by Microsoft and its impact on the enterprise social networking space, as well as Neudesic’s own ESN solution, Neudesic Pulse, which he says has carved out pretty important niche in the ESN market.

Speaking on Microsoft’s (News - Alert) acquisition of Yammer, Vosough thinks it is good for the industry. The “freemium” model has helped educate organizations as to the value of social networking in business. He says that this publicity has caused many interested parties to have discussions with Neudesic about how they can use social networking in their own business, asking questions about the best approaches for their specific areas of focus.

As for Neudesic’s offerings, the 10- year-old private company with over 600 employees in 16 offices, was founded with a focus on business innovation, and provides consulting and managed services as well as a variety of products. What Neudesic learned, according to Vosough, was that only 21 percent of corporate decision makers were using collaboration platforms so, in essence, the social question had not even come close to being “solved.”

The company decided that, in order for workers to communicate and collaborate seamlessly, they needed experiences that were familiar to them, thus Neudesic created Neudesic Pulse (News - Alert), a standalone solution that can be easily integrated with any business application.

What sets Neudesic Pulse apart, says Vosough, is that the company did not create another silo. Its solution works with everything a company is using, whether on-premises or in the cloud, while adding robust feature sets. It is, he says, a social fabric that connects social solutions.

Recently, Neudesic announced an integration with MadCap, with the goal of helping technical writers collaborate socially. It amounted to more than just “slapping something on or linking out,” said Vosough. Instead it is a unique solution that enables business to leverage social networking now and not years from now. It has helped these scribes make their technical writing better. And, in the end, isn’t that what companies are looking for – a way to make their offerings better and maybe connect to others at the same time.
