While XmarteK is making waves, others in the IP telephony space are consistently focused on developing solutions that improve communication efficiency and the lives of everyday citizens. The latter was the focus of a recent 911 Enable (News - Alert) release.

The Sacramento Bee recently published an announcement from 911 Enable regarding the company’s E911 management appliance, designed for IP telephony. This Emergency Gateway (News - Alert) (EGW) has received qualification in the E911 ELIN Gateway category of the Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program (UCOIP).

The EGW has been designed to address first responder communication needs in the E911 functionality when operating on the Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync Server 2010. This latest appliance will also help organizations to meet their specific requirements for E911.

“Microsoft Lync Server 2010 helps address many of the common E911 management requirements that organizations have,” said Lev Deich, director of 911 Enable, in a statement. “The EGW is designed to provide extended E911 capabilities that some organizations may require, and we are excited to have it qualified in the Microsoft UCOIP for integration with Lync.”

On the enterprise side, Fujitsu just released a new telephony system to ensure business continuity for clients. Known as the LEGEND-V, it can be used as a gateway device when companies are making the transition to an environment that supports unified communications. This new IP-PBX (News - Alert) product is targeted to organizations seeking to build IP-based enterprise telephony systems.

For his part, Pazos is excited about the coming year and the advancements in the industry creating growth opportunities for his company. To learn more, check out the video in full.
