Ashton Kutcher Backs Designer Sales Site Fab.com

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

Fab.com, a site that delivers daily design inspirations at majorly discounted prices, is about to get even more fabulous, as celebrity Ashton Kuchter, has invested in the growing company.

The newest addition to “Two and a Half Men,” Kuchter joins entrepreneur David Lee (News - Alert) and early-stage venture company SoftTech VC in the investment of Fab.com, which currently has 240,000 members and has been rising by 5,000 users daily.

Originally founded by Jason Goldberg, who upon startup described the designer site as a “gay social network mashed with a gay Groupon,” Fab.com is expected to undergo a “larger round” in the near future.

Launched last week, Fab.com boasts a unique roster of 175 leading designers and manufacturers that contribute designer goods to the online flash sales site. Free to members, who receive sales announcements via a daily newsletter, Fab.com features design products in a wide range of categories, including home accessories, furniture, entertainment, lighting, art, outdoor, toys, furniture and more.

To further compliment the site’s design sales, Fab.com features an Inspiration Wall that allows members to share and find design inspirations from other design gurus uploaded from Google (News - Alert) image searches, a PC or even Instagram.

As of late, the actor-turned-businessman Kutcher has found himself more and more in the spotlight for his numerous investments in technological businesses like Blekko, Flipboard and Skype (News - Alert). He has even ventured into the food business with the title of “President of Pop Culture” at all-nature chips company Popchips.

Back in February, ticket comparison and price forecasting site SeatGeek secured an undisclosed investment from Kutcher, and at one time he was even crowned the “King of Twitter.”

We can all be certain this won’t be the last company that Kutcher dips his wallet into.
