Taiwanese Mobile Phone Industry Report, 3Q 2016 - Research and Markets
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "The
Taiwanese Mobile Phone Industry, 3Q 2016" report to their
offering.
The report finds that the Taiwanese smartphone shipments totaled 78.2
million units in the second quarter of 2016, down 9.2% sequentially, due
to the seasonality associated with iPhone sales. Although EMS companies
received more orders from Huawei (News - Alert) and LeEco, the growth could hardly
compensate for the decline in iPhone shipments.
It is expected that shipments of the new iPhone in 2016 will not be
strong. The specifications of the iPhone (News - Alert) 7/7 Plus include water
resistance, longer battery life, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) on
the 4.7" iPone, removal of 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual-lens on the
5.5" iPhone. Except for the removal of headphone jack, other
specifications have been available on Android (News - Alert) phones for years.
Therefore, it is expected that iPhone 6/6 Plus users will wait another
year for the next iPhone in 2017.
In the third quarter of 2016, the Taiwanese smartphone industry's
shipment volume is projected to grow around 10.6% sequentially, thanks
to the mass production of iPhone 7/7 Plus and Taiwanese vendors'
products.
