Based on end-user segmentation, the global public relation robots market
is classified into the following:
-
Hotels
-
Hospitals
-
Restaurants
Public relation robots market in hotels
Occupying more than half of the overall market share, the public
relation robots market in hotels became the largest end-user segment in
2015. The need to improve operational efficiency by implementing
delivery robots at hotels and automate the routine tasks in hotels are
some of the driving forces for this segment.
Bharath Kanniappan, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on robotics,
says, "Robots are becoming such an iconic trend with many
benefits, one of which include automated room service for the end-users.
Public relation robots are also attracting the guests' attention. Also,
the hotels that employ delivery robots not only attracts guests but also
prove as a promising business opportunity in the long run, as it is
cost-effective and a more efficient solution."
The report further adds that many hotels in the US, such as the Starwood
chain of Aloft, have already deployed prototypes of delivery robots, and
these robots are intended to increase the staff efficiency in more
valued-addd services, by freeing them up from small tasks. Vendors,
such as Savioke, are planning to raise more funds to make delivery
robots more interactive and emotionally enabled, using high-end
artificial intelligence.
Public relation robots market in hospitals
The hotels segment is followed by the hospitals segment that accounted
for more than 26% of the global market. The concept of using robots in
hospitals was introduced few years ago with a large number of hospitals
using surgical robots for operations. These robots help patients by
guiding them through the hospital procedures, and help record their
primary information. Most of the robots used in hospitals are
cloud-enabled and therefore, easy to handle remotely.
"A growing number of hospitals in the US are deploying
cloud-enabled and remotely monitored public relation robots that provide
new ways for physicians to interact with patients and give consultation
procedures from remote locations," says Bharath.
For instance, in Canada, Humber River Hospitals has deployed patient
assistance robots. The robots not just interact with patients but are
also programmed to complete a variety of tasks, such as delivering food
and medical supplies to patients, and aid in preparing and administering
chemotherapy drugs.
Public relation robots market in restaurants
The restaurants segment accounted for the least market share at 18.7% of
the global public relation robots market. Though the use of public
relation robots in restaurants has increased over the past few years,
limited viability of vendor base and lesser number of restaurants
showing interest in installing these robots can restrain market growth
and cause the market share to decline over the next four years.
China is the leading country in the implementation of public relation
robots in the restaurants segment. In an era of robotics, employing
robots as a restaurant staff has some advantage as they are more
efficient and cost-effective in the long term. The average cost in
employing these robots is over USD 9,500 in China.
