GENBAND Showcases Femtocell Gateway Security Solutions

Security plays a very important role in femtocell deployments. This concern is now more prominent as the cell phone carriers look for newer and inexpensive ways to provide convergence services to customers.

 

GENBAND, a developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, announced that the company participated in FemtoZone at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2010 and discussed the latest advances in femtocell gateway security.

 

At the event, the company highlighted its market leading femtocell gateway components, the G9 Converged Gateway (News - Alert) and S2 Security Gateway. Along with its commitment to an open, flexible and standards-based approach for developing the femtocell market opportunity, the company also displayed interoperability among best-of-breed femtocell controller and access point providers.

 

GENBAND’s (News - Alert) flagship G9 Converged Gateway is the latest generation of carrier class, multipurpose media processing platforms for high-capacity trunking, access and IP transcoding services. GENBAND’s S2 Security Gateway allows mobile operators to offer secure, scalable fixed mobile convergence solutions, including femtocells and FMC/WiFi/WLAN solutions, advancing high quality voice and multimedia services to residential and business subscribers at their homes or places of work.

Offering a localized cell phone service, femtoCells are in-home cellular access points that connect via home broadband connection to the carrier’s switching system. It helps cell phone carriers to expand their services.

Designed to support system integrator implementation of open, standards-based and flexible femtocell solutions for service providers, this ecosystem ensures GENBAND's market leading femtocell gateway components, the G9; Converged Gateway and S2; Security Gateway, are fully interoperable among femtocell controller and access point providers.
