Intersil Showcases New Audio and Video Technologies at International CES

Intersil, a company that designs and manufactures high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, has announced it will be showcasing its latest D2Audio products at the International CES (News - Alert) 2010.

The products on display include a new IC for still and video cameras as well as its Q:Active HD line of high-performance DisplayPort cables.

In addition to these offerings, Intersil will also demonstrate its latest products for light and proximity sensors, displays, smartphones and home theatre applications.

Intersil’s D2Audio DTV SoundSuite products are System-on-Chip Class-D digital audio amplifiers that provide a complete, cost-effective audio solution for digital TV systems, PC multimedia speakers, portable device docking stations and other high-volume consumer products.

The system also provides a complete audio system that combines an efficient audio processor and pulse width modulation “PWM” controller with extensive integrated digital signal processing and configurable audio processing algorithms – for the highest amplifier efficiency and lowest system material cost.

According to officials with Intersil, WIDESound x 4 Multi-Channel Soundbar Simulator creates a simulated virtualization effect that greatly enhances audio capabilities in flat panel TVs or other applications where full-sized speakers are impractical.

Also, the image sensor driving solution from Intersil includes a new ISL55112 dual CCD driver, which delivers fast, matched rise and fall times into highly capacitive image sensor loads. This results in stable, predictable CCD driver waveforms that meet the needs of portable still or video camera designers.

The compact, energy-efficient device also offers substantial improvements in battery life for digital cameras.

At CES, the Q:Active DisplayPort cables will offer deep color, full-bandwidth HD digital video running over the industry's longest and thinnest copper Mini DisplayPort “mDP” to DisplayPort hybrid cable.

The company will also show 50Gbps of Deep Color video information running 20 meters to a 25 megapixel HyperWall in stunning clarity. These active cables support the full 8.64Gbps bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.1, enabling a resolution of 2560p x 1600p through up to 50 meters of copper cable.
