Broadcasters Look to Kulabyte for Live Internet TV
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
Kulabyte, a developer of advanced video solutions for live streaming of high quality video, multi-format capturing, encoding and transcoding, first debuted its solution back in March for the "Operation MySpace (News - Alert)" live concert webcast from Kuwait. Now, the company has announced it's been delivering an increased number of its full frame rate streaming video solutions to other networks and broadcasts since the event.
"Since the release of our XStream Live product series, we have seen an overwhelming amount of interest from both traditional and new media customers," said Chris Gottschalk, Co-founder and CTO of Kulabyte. "We have requests coming in from many of the major networks and live content distributors for our high quality solutions. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what is to come in the live Internet TV market."
The solution, which features Live 2 Pass Variable Bit Rate encoding process, makes it possible for network professionals to easily distribute high quality content live and on-demand.
Other event producers and projects utilizing Kulabyte's XStream Live encoding solutions include: ITV's "Formula One" racing coverage in Europe, Camcast's live extreme sports events weekly in Europe and TV Worldwide's (News - Alert) live national event and technology conference webcasts.
To improve video transmission quality, Kulabyte notes that all their products incorporate a multi-core TimeSlice technology which accelerates encoding and compression
as well as increases picture quality, while also reducing the required bandwidth needed for video transmission. This means even at consumer-level broadband speeds, it's possible for video to be encoded and transmitted at full SD and HD quality.
Kevin Shively, Executive Vice-President of TV Worldwide commented, "Using Kulabyte's XPress Live encoder on dual-core laptops gives us a powerful, highly mobile, encoding solution for quality live Flash video delivered without the need for significantly higher bit rates required by the other encoding solutions. Kulabyte's cross-platform compatible stream can be accessed through corporate firewalls and the quality difference is easy to see."
Kulabyte also made headlines recently when it launched the XPress Live product line providing high quality SD for small businesses and media companies not yet ready for HD webcasts. This offering was made possible thanks to their partnership with Internet TV platform provider Mogulus.
"Our customers have been asking for an event package for some time. We have expanded our offerings and are now ready to help them deliver to everyone with a broadband connection live Internet TV events in high quality up to HD resolutions," said Robin Rush, CEO.
