Centric CRM Works to Establish Open Solutions Alliance
 TMCnet Contributing Editor
Open source applications providers are joining together to establish the Open Solutions Alliance (OSA). Centric CRM, developer of a leading open source Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, announced that it was joining other respected open source providers in this new, non-profit and vendor-neutral industry organization.
The OSA is dedicated to simplifying and expanding the operational landscape for open source business applications. Centric CRM will be joined in founding the OSA by Adaptive Planning, CollabNet, EnterpriseDB, Hyperic, JasperSoft, Openbravo, SpikeSource, SourceForge and Talend.
Any company or organization that is committed to removing barriers to the adoption of open source applications and to abiding by the OSA’s code of ethics qualify for membership.
“Centric CRM is helping to launch the OSA because each of our members' products are enhanced by the capabilities provided by the others,” said David Richards, chief executive officer of Centric CRM, in a Wednesday statement. “Working together to facilitate integration will provide great value to companies looking to open source solutions to further their business goals.”
Centric CRM and other OSA members plan to work together to create lightweight, practical approaches to inter-application integration and areas of interoperability that simplify life for businesses. All collaboration will be conducted in the open to emphasize improvements that have practical value.
Barry Klawans, OSA spokesperson and chief technology officer at JasperSoft contributed that OSA members like Centric CRM are highly recognized for the quality and performance of their applications under day-to-day, realistic conditions. Through collaboration, OSA members will give customers new and even more compelling reasons to deploy integrated open source solutions in their businesses.
Working with the OSA and its members, Centric CRM will cross-market the business solutions represented in the alliance. The company will also encourage its user community to leverage the applications in the alliance, and to find new uses and capabilities across platforms.
Central CRM chief technical officer, Tom Manos, will be participating in a discussion panel during the LinuxWorld Open Solutions Summit on February 15 at 10:15 AM. This 60-minute session is a Sponsored Session on the establishment of the Open Source Alliance and will be moderated by Brian Behlendorf, co-founder of the Apache Software Foundation and current CTO of CollabNet.
As the trend for businesses move to more open solutions, the need is definitely there for an organization such as the OSA. This non-profit will not only help to promote the provisions of its member companies, but will also be able to deliver considerable benefit to all clients as they will have easier access to more solutions to enhance their business.
