Alive 5.5 Predicts and Prevents Problems in CRM and Other Enterprise Application![]() TMCnet Contributing Editor In an effort to provide organizations with a tool to ensure that revenue, productivity and reputation are intact, Integrien, a provider of integrity management solutions, has launched Alive 5.5 at DEMO 2007. This major new version of the company’s flagship product includes significant new features and enhancements, including Problem Fingerprint alerts and deep SAP (News - Alert) integration.
With access to these new features, IT organizations can predict and prevent application slowdowns or outages in a range of distributed applications. By eliminating lengthy and disruptive post-mortem troubleshooting sessions, Alive can help to improve IT productivity.
Alive 5.5 is designed to address a number of problems for IT managers responsible for their organization’s application availability and service levels. By automatically learning normal service levels for enterprise applications in addition to the normal metric levels of the linked components of IT infrastructure that deliver the application, the software eliminates the need for manual service-level and component-threshold setting.
The advanced real-time analytics inherent in Alive then pick up departures from normal metrics, which can illuminate tuning of component configurations to improve application performance. Alive also learns the building pattern of abnormal behaviors that uniquely identify service failures and slowdowns such that manual creation and maintenance of event filters or rules is never required.
The Problem Fingerprint available with Alive 5.5 is able to detect problems and provides an IT support team with the trail of application-specific evidence that is needed to determine and record the recommended resolution for problems more rapidly than with traditional approaches.
The recurrence of any problem in the Problem Fingerprint library can be predicted based on arrival of that class of problem’s unique precursor events. Alive will then feed an existing tool’s process or use its own workflow capability to alert IT staff of the estimated time of arrival, symptoms and recommended resolution for the problems before user are affected.
“When it comes to measuring a complex IT environment to pick up the source of problems in IT services, the more-data more-often mentality of monitoring tools increases IT costs while actually making it harder for IT to determine the cause of problems,” said Integrien’s CTO, Dr. Mazda Marvasti, in a statement on Tuesday.
“The enhancements we made in Alive 5.5 focus on real-time analysis of the right metrics in order to automate prediction and prevention of problems, without even making IT write rules.”
Features of the new Alive 5.5 include Prediction and Prevention; Problem Fingerprints; Problem Fingerprint Alerts; Dynamic Thresholding for finer adjustment and increased accuracy; deep SAP integration; deep Oracle (News - Alert) “Fusion” integration; Dashboard Enhancement; and Tivoli integration.
Alive 5.5 is now available and can be installed in production environments. Perpetual and subscription pricing is available. As Alive is agentless, the need for pricing and maintenance of agent-based management solutions is eliminated. As more and more organizations are focusing on the importance of business continuity and how it applies in the network-driven business world, the need for such solutions as Alive 5.5 will continue to grow.
IT managers are charged with ensuring that the network – which not only transfers information but also controls nearly every business function critical to the enterprise today – performs at optimal levels consistently.
To achieve this, these managers must be able to predict and prevent trouble areas. When these issues do arise, they need quick notification for swift correction. As Alive does well to address these demands, it will likely see wide acceptance and adoption.
