New IP Phone from Digium Brings Affordable HD Touchscreens to Businesses

Businesses today are in search of quality tools that will give their employees the ability to work effectively and efficiently – and that won’t break the bank. That means phones that do more than just dial out phone calls. To fulfill this need, Digium, Inc., The Asterisk Company, has introduced the D80 IP Phone for Asterisk and Switchvox (News - Alert).

The new phone is an affordable high definition touchscreen IP phone that includes all the tools today’s modern worker needs.  It’s completely driven by touch (something we’ve all become accustomed to in an era of tablets and smartphones) and has a large 7-inch color HD screen. The phone supports up to 100 Rapid Dial Keys/ Busy Lamp Fields/Status Indicators and has easy access to advanced capabilities like visual voicemail, presence, visual call parking, and more – all at the touch of a finger.

Attendees at this week’s ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. get a first-hand look at the phone as the company is exhibiting the Digium (News - Alert) D80 at booth #421 at the show.

“In the past, touchscreen phones were too expensive, putting them out of reach for most businesses. They simply replicated traditional multi-button phones and failed to introduce any new, innovative or intelligent features to take advantage of the touchscreen technology,” said David Deaton, VP of Products, Digium.

The D80 also supports wideband (HD) audio, electronic hook switch (EHS) headsets, and gigabit Ethernet and is compatible with Switchvox version 6.3.5 and Asterisk (News - Alert) with DPMA version 3.4.

 “The Digium D80 IP phone challenges that reality by making full use of the touchscreen interface. Rethinking the user interface by foregoing traditional physical buttons delivers a more intuitive experience and presents information in a more meaningful way. Most importantly, the D80 is priced within reach for every user, setting new expectations for today's modern business desk phone,” Deaton said.

Available in March 2017, the phone will go for $329 and for Switchvox Cloud the solution, the D80 is available starting at a rate of $16 per month, with a three-year contract.

Asterisk World, which is happening at ITEXPO (News - Alert) this week, will also feature Digium executives who will speak with attendees about the advantages of their offerings and new Asterisk features to be on the lookout for.
