M2M Companies Offer Insight on 2G GSM Network Transition
By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor
Wireless network services provider KORE teamed up with M2M communications products provider Multi-Tech (News - Alert) Systems for an educational program offering, helping companies in North America with the upcoming transition to 2G GSM networks.
Over 90 percent of current M2M communications are operating on older 2G networks. With the looming decommission of the largest 2G GSM network, companies are making the switch to M2M solutions, but not many are aware of their connectivity options.
“There is still a good deal of uncertainty and confusion surrounding the process and timeline for the decommissioning of North America’s largest 2G GSM network,” said Robert Metzler, executive vice president, sales and marketing, KORE in a statement. “KORE and Multi-Tech will provide organizations with a clear blueprint for how the 2G transition will impact existing and future deployments, as well as help them understand what M2M network options are available and best suited for their businesses. KORE remains focused on being a valued resource, providing the expertise and guidance required to navigate the nuances of the M2M market and ensure continuity and growth for M2M solution providers.”
Officials at Multi-Tech said the partnership with KORE will provide all of the necessary knowledge to make a smooth transition.
Interested parties can learn more about the transition via an educational webinar from TMCnet, taking place February 25 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
The webinar, “Facts about the 2G GSM Sunset in North America for Companies using M2M/IoT Technologies,” will discuss the affected networks and expected transition timelines, as well as options for preparing for the transition, to help transition while avoiding service disruption.
KORE Telmatics is currently at TMCnet’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) East on the exhibitor floor, booth 210 in the M2M Pavilion.
