M2M Evolution Conference Identifies Emerging Opportunities

A number of new sessions will be added to the M2M Evolution Conference at ITEXPO (News - Alert) in the Miami Beach Convention Center on February 2-4, 2011, according to TMC.

More than 60 million devices are currently connected to networks around the globe. Industry analysts are predicting a 30-50 percent year-on-year growth in the number of M2M devices, forecasting connectivity of more than 2 billion devices by the year 2020.

Keynote presentations will be by 4G-Sprint’s Todd Rowley, Apriva’s Jeff Ford and Numerex’ (News - Alert) Jeff Smith.

Wireless robotics is another interesting section included in the conference. Ron Johnson, CEO of Robot Row, and Steve Barker, evangelist for Lego Mindstorm, will discuss Wireless Robotics and cover prototyping techniques using Lego’s Mindstorm products.

Attendees at this session will have the opportunity to win a Lego Mindstorm Robot that can hear, see, touch and feel. And while T-Mobile’s (News - Alert) Shelby Nokes will discuss the company’s M2M strategy and the expansion of T-Mobile’s M2M vertical markets, C.H. Robinson Worldwide’s Chris McLoughlin will describe how the ground, ocean, and air logistics provider is leveraging M2M technology for security, and to control costs.

“The synergies between the M2M Evolution conference and ITEXPO are natural, because developers, service providers, and equipment manufacturers are all interested in capitalizing on a rapidly growing segment of the telecom industry,” said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO and conference chairman for TMC, in a statement.

“The Miami program provides an abundance of educational, networking, and partnership-building opportunities for everyone in attendance, and we’re looking forward to a great show next week,” Tehrani added.

Other events taking place at ITEXPO include: 4GWE, the Smart Grid Summit, Social CRM, the Cloud Communications Summit, SIP Tutorial, VIPeering, Channel Vision Expo, the Business Video Expo, StartupCamp, Super WiFi Summit and Digium (News - Alert)|Asterisk World.
