Digium to Sponsor Asterisk Open Source PBX Workshop at ITEXPO West

Asterisk Open Source PBX is gaining attention in the global industry, yet is still an anomaly to some seeking its benefits. To address the , TMC (News - Alert) is offering live training courses at ITEXPO West, the premier telecommunications conference of 2009.
The course, hosted by Digium (News - Alert), the Huntsville, Ala.-based creators and developers of the popular telephony platform, provides a one-day “gentle” introduction to the Asterisk Open Source PBX and is scheduled for September 2.
To deliver an introduction into the Asterisk (News - Alert) Open Source PBX, the course offers students an understanding of the role Asterisk can play, walking them through setting up Asterisk for the first time and, upon completion of the course, attendees will also be able to take their knowledge back to their own companies to realize the full value of the Asterisk solution.
Students attending this course also will learn how to identify the purpose and primary functionality of Asterisk as a PBX, as well as an application development platform. In addition, attendees will be able to describe the telephony connections which Asterisk supports and the Digium hardware necessary to complete this connectivity.
Attendees will also learn how to identify the basic characteristics of analog and digital PSTN connections as well as how to compare and contrast the two communications infrastructure options.
Along with learning how to configure Asterisk, attendees will also understand how to use the platform to deliver basic PBX functionality such as call routing, voicemail and directory services and learn the basics of becoming an Asterisk administrator in order to deliver greater value to the corporation.
