Hosted VoIP Phone Systems Flourish

Hosted VoIP solutions are becoming increasingly popular today among businesses looking to cut costs and boost productivity.

 

To further solidify the value hosted VoIP services are providing, a new report from Infonetics Research (News - Alert) highlights growth in the VoIP market. Specifically, the market grew by $20.7 billion in the first half of 2009 with demand for both residential and business VoIP growing even despite slowing in other areas of communications spending.


According to Diane Myers, directing analyst for service provider VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research, residential VoIP services comprise a majority of worldwide VoIP services revenue while on the business side, Hosted VoIP phone systems are also expected to grow substantially.

“We are expecting IP Centrex and hosted UC service revenue to grow 26 percent year-over-year in 2009,” Myers said.

CEO, Eric Thomas told TMCnet the growth in the hosted VoIP PBX sector can be attributed to increased education, refinement in the technology, and public acceptance. 

 

According to Thomas, public acceptance has been driven by the realization that, “not all hosted providers are created equal and many companies are providing services that meet or exceed normal PSTN phone call quality.”

 

“VoIP technology is starting to see a clear division between those who are selling on price, and those who are selling on quality and value,” Thomas said.

 

Those providers offering high-quality hosted VoIP PBXs have now become “the ones to beat” in terms of voice quality, features and total cost of ownership.

 

“There are companies like us that offer both high-quality service and high-end features without the hassle of managing equipment.  That’s what’s driving the explosion of hosted services, Thomas said.
