Crossroads Wireless to Deploy Transverse's Open Source SolutionBy Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributing Editor Crossroads Wireless Holding is set to deploy Transverse’s open source BSS/OSS solution - Business Logic Execution Environment Platform, or blee(p). Crossroads Wireless’ offering based on CDMA EV-DO Rev A technologies will provide a rural wireless and broadband offering to numerous under-served markets across the U.S.
Transverse’s blee(p) solution supports billing and customer care, order and service management, real-time service delivery, on-device portal, and call management for the wireless carrier. Transverse will also provide post deployment support to power the retail and wholesale operations of Crossroads Wireless.
“Crossroads Wireless’ commitment to open source positions them as a leader in what will be a fundamental revolution in the way operators build their back office,” said James Messer (News - Alert), president and chief executive officer at Transverse. “We share their vision and look forward to supporting their operations with Transverse’s world-class OSS team and open platform.”
Transverse is an Austin, Texas-based provider of business solutions that allow companies operating in saturated markets to find and support new business models and revenue streams.
Crossroads Wireless claims that the company will be the first major wireless provider in the United States to deploy a complete open source back office infrastructure. In addition to deploying blee(p), Crossroads will be maximizing the asset value of its subscribers by transforming them into “mobile audiences” and enabling a new marketplace that delivers better value relationships between Crossroads and its subscribers, and the merchants and media companies trying to reach the subscribers.
“Our requirements were clear. We needed a back office provider who, unlike traditional solutions providers, was willing to offer us new system architectures for greater operational flexibility and lower operating costs,” said Dan Andreola, vice president of information technology at Crossroads Wireless. “Open source development and service-oriented architecture will allow us to be agile and break down the barrier of expensive, proprietary software solutions, which are so common in the back office of major carriers today.”
