Samsung (News - Alert) Electronics has chosen the ‘Fixed-Mobile Convergence Performance (FMC) Test Solution’ from Azimuth Systems, a provider of wireless data communications test solutions to measure Wi-Fi performance in three areas that get most attention from end-users: dropped calls, battery life and call quality.  

 

Samsung’s decision for Azimuth FMC Performance Test Solution is aimed at streamlining the testing of its UMA/GAN dual-mode handsets, including the Samsung SGH-t409 and SGH-t709 models. 

 

 

Samsung’s UMA/GAN dual-mode phones allow users to make standard mobile phone calls, as well as calls over Wi-Fi – saving them money through the use of local mode to tunnel the connection to the carrier.  Additionally, the Samsung UMA/GAN dual-mode handsets allow sseamless, transparent use of voice, messaging and data. 

 

 Using Azimuth’s solution, Samsung will analyze the voice quality of its converged Wi-Fi/Cellular handsets in a variety of range, roaming, and hand-in/hand-out scenarios under various motion and traffic conditions.  The test suites leverage extensive test automation, including traffic generation, sophisticated motion emulation and controlled RF test environments to enable accurate and repeatable data and voice performance testing of Wi-Fi/Cellular handsets – reducing the testing process from weeks to days.
