Glu Mobile Unveils New Game for the Android Platform

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributing Editor

San Mateo, California-based mobile game publisher Glu Mobile Inc. has announced the release of its critically acclaimed real estate strategy game Build-a-lot for the Android (News - Alert) Market.

Build-a-lot was originally developed by HipSoft for online audiences. Last August, TMCnet reported the launch of Glu Mobile’s (News - Alert) first two titles for the Android open source mobile platform - Bonsai Blast and Brain Genius Deluxe.

“We are proud to continue to support the Open Handset Alliance’s (News - Alert) efforts with Android and believe Android Market provides a fertile environment for the business of mobile games,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president, global publishing, Glu Mobile. “Build-a-lot is an addictive game that will resonate with anybody who’s ever wanted to try their hand at the housing market.”

Build-a-lot received a tremendous response when it was first launched in 2007. It picked up a number of accolades including No. 1 “Action/Arcade Game of the Year” on Big Fish Games and “Strategy Game of the Year” on RealArcade.

The game allows players build, buy, sell and rent properties to become real estate tycoons. Players can either make fast bucks by selling houses or just take it easy and collect rental income. They can eventually get into commercial properties and lead the market.

Two modes of play- first the career mode in which a player can complete fun goals and earn money and the second, a casual mode in which a player can improve a neighborhood as and when he likes, are offered.

Glu Mobile boasts a full range of popular games including original titles Super K.O. Boxing!, Stranded and Brain Genius, and titles based on major brands from partners including Atari, Activision (News - Alert), Konami, Harrah's, Hasbro, Warner Bros., Microsoft, PlayFirst, PopCap Games, SEGA and Sony.
