OtterBox Makes an Impact with New Skins

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

For those consumers spending a pretty penny on today's most popular smartphones, nothing can be more important than protecting those devices from damage.

While most users are not willing to sacrifice style to get this protection for their phones,  OtterBox has announced new skins that bring together durability and style.

For iPhone (News - Alert) 3G users, the new OtterBox 1943 Impact Series, weighing in at approximately 0.6oz and available in black or white, makes it easy to continue to accessing the headphone jack or silence switch because of its slim fit silicone layer. This means cameras, sensors, speakers and microphones are still accessible even with the protective skin on.

The skin also includes protection from bumps and shock as the inner corners are designed to dissipate impact.

OtterBox focuses on delivering cases that answer to the needs of today's chaotic, spontaneous and even klutzy user who has broken a device in the past and is looking for protection.

The new Impact Series for iPhone (News - Alert) 3G is an upgrade from the OtterBox Defender Series and provides a solution for those customers wanting protection in a less bulky form.

The company also announced today new Impact Series case for the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Bold smartphone from RIM. This case is also designed to protect the device from impact and includes durable silicone.

Like the iPhone series, the skin provides a thin, stylish layer of protection for the devices and offers easy access to side buttons speakers, cameras and other functions.

"Listening to customer requests for different case options, OtterBox now offers the Impact Series to accommodate the needs of less extreme BlackBerry users," said Curt Richardson, CEO of Otter Products, LLC. "The Impact Series allows us to reach additional customers by providing another option of recognized OtterBox protection in a sleek design."

Recently the company also announced a Defender Series Strength case in pink for the iPhone or iPod nano in support of Breast Cancer awareness. The company will donate 10 percent of the purchase price of these cases to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.
