Portable fuel cell power systems supplier Jadoo announced on Monday that it signed a contract with Advanced Fuel Canister Design to develop an advanced fuel canister for use with hydrogen fuel cells.
The newly-designed canister is based on Jadoo’s N-Store interface, utilizing an “advanced chemical hydride derived from ammonia borane.” The N-Stor fuel canisters from Jadoo have long, continuous runtime with predictable power, allow for rapid refill, and are environmentally sound. With the new design, the canister is also capable of automatic information transfer between fuel canister and fuel cell for power, data and fluids and is compatible with all N-Stor enabled fuel cell power units.
“The N-Stor interface is certainly an important and necessary innovation for the advancement of fuel cell power,” said Dr. Tom Lechtenberg, General Atomics Vice President in a statement. “With an installed base of fuel cell systems in the market, the time to commercialization of an ammonia borane fuel solution will be cut in half thanks to the N-Stor interface.”
Jadoo’s latest contract follows their most recent announcement in which Jadoo inked a deal with Kuchera Defense Systems to design an advanced fuel cell system. The new design from Jadoo will focus on system optimization and weight reduction. The end goal is the replacement of legacy battery technologies weighing close to 80 lb. with fuel cell power systems weighing 70 percent less.
