Schaller-Crestland School District, an independent school district in Iowa has hired Xirrus for district-wide deployment of high performing WiFi network capable of providing students and faculty with a wireless infrastructure for research and curriculum enhancement.
The WiFi ( News - Alert) network will offer wireless access to students, faculty and staff in addition to providing residents of the local communities with free Hotspot WiFi Internet access. In fact, Schaller-Crestland School District is upgrading its wireless point-to-point links aimed at families who want their children to have access to the very best that technology has to offer.
“Our computer labs and laptops are the heart and soul of our technology-based learning environment where students are offered a variety of tools to further their understanding in critical subject matters,” said David Kwikkel, superintendent of Schaller-Crestland School District. “We want our students to access the Internet whether they are in a lab setting or working on freelance assignments anywhere in our buildings — we selected Xirrus because they meet our performance, coverage, and budget objectives.”
Using the Xirrus WiFi network, faculty will be able to enhance courses in a range of subject matters including chemistry, physics, history and others through video-based educational applications and material.
“Schaller-Crestland was looking for a WiFi infrastructure provider that could deliver the needed bandwidth to support their students, faculty and local residents using the fewest devices possible,” said Bill Hynes, regional manager at Xirrus. “We are pleased to have been selected by the Schaller-Crestland School District to provide a critical part of their network infrastructure and look forward to helping other Iowa school districts create state-of-art wireless networks.”
