Wi-Fi Hotspot services provider, Tomizone has entered into a partnership with Australia's third largest Internet Service Provider (ISP), iiNet Limited.

 

According to a report from Computer World, this partnership will allow iiNet customers to get 100 megabytes of monthly Wi-Fi access to Tomizone Wi-Fi hotspots anywhere in the world.

 

The partnership also addresses Wi-Fi Hotspot ubiquity which has become a global problem over the years. To counter this problem, Tomizone will be asking its customers to set up their own Wi-Fi hotspots where half the revenue generated will be shared with the Wi-Fi hotspot owner.

 

The Computer World report notes that this is similar to the agreement signed earlier this year with New Zealand ISP, Orcon.

 

The owner of the hotspot will generate income from other users who will pay him a small amount to access his Wi-Fi hotspot.

 

The customers of iiNet will be able to set up their own hotspots by connecting a Tomizone-enabled Wi-Fi device to their broadband connection. For this purpose, the company is releasing free hotspot-enabling firmware embedded in selected Wi-Fi routers. It performs many functions such as authenticating customers' access, regulating usage, and collecting payments.

 

The partnership is not entirely relying on the customers to provide Wi-Fi hotspots. The two companies will also be creating their own Wi-Fi hotspots across the major areas so that small business owners can provide their customers a reliable Wi-Fi connection. The work has already begun to integrate the systems and the companies hope to have their first Hotspots operational in November.
