SyChip (News - Alert) Inc., a subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Company and the provider of chip-scale modules (CSM), semiconductors and software for the wireless mobile market, unveiled its first mobile WiMAX (IEEE (News - Alert) 802.16e- 2005) chip scale module.
WiMAX (News - Alert) has the capacity to deliver true broadband connectivity and speeds supporting high data transfer using the IEEE 802.16 standard. In order to improve the outdoor mobility and to improve the usage of the standard technology, SyChip has been very keen in developing chipsets thereby getting WiMAX to devices. The WiMAX9xxx module enables manufacturers to quickly design and add WiMAX functionality to devices such as handsets, mobile personal computers, personal media players and personal navigational devices.
Developed specifically for mobile WiMAX, the SyMax platform includes the WiMAX9xxx hardware and all the software which has the capacity to provide a turnkey system for WiMAX enabled devices.
Moses Asom, SyChip co-founder and senior vice president of marketing and business development said in a statement, "The SyMax family of products leverages our leadership and know how in the plug-n-play embedded space and wireless connectivity. It will provide our customers a quick time-to-market solution as well as minimize their upfront investment. We are seeing the benefits already with the chipset vendors that we are working with. This directly correlates to what is happening in the market”.
Expected to be made available in August 2007, the production is scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2008.
