Verso Technologies has entered into a reseller agreement with Alvarion (News - Alert) to provide Alvarion customers with the MetroNet VoIP Overlay Solution, a cost effective and certified solution for carrying voice and value-added services over WiMAX networks.
Acting as a reseller for the MetroNet VoIP Overlay Solution, Alvarion will position it as a value-added solution with their existing BreezeMAX product line.
With this joint solution Alvarion’s existing customer base has a voice and services revenue generating platform targeting emerging Tier 2 - 4 markets in developing regions worldwide.
The solution reportedly includes Clarent Class-4 and Class-5 features, media gateway, media server, IP Centrex, and back office reporting and provisioning.
In addition to offer rapid deployment, the Verso MetroNet Overlay allows the customer to generate revenue quickly. The scalable solution can be rolled out quickly and can accommodate as few as 2,500 subscribers to more than one million subscribers.
“WiMAX is already one of the fastest growing sectors in the telecommunications market and there exists no comparable technology that even gets close to the economics that it delivers,” said Steve Odom, chief executive, Verso Technologies (News - Alert) in a statement.
“As the WiMAX (News - Alert) market expands, our ability to offer providers like Alvarion complete voice over WiMAX capabilities means we will be able to capture a significant piece of the WiMAX market,” he added.
Rudy Leser, Corporate VP Marketing and Strategy, Alvarion believes the addition of Verso MetroNet VoIP Overlay to their existing voice products will benefit their customers greatly by adding revenue producing voice services applications to customers' networks.
According to Kim Fraser, CEO of Startech Communications, a common customer of Verso and Alvarion, the differentiating factor for the VoIP platform is the fact that this is an end-to-end solution that contains all technical aspects for installation, deployment and support.
Fraser said that a complete offering allows them to streamline deployment and achieve significant cost savings. The offering also provides advantages of a simple pricing and billing model that allows them to generate new revenues and to quickly grow subscriber base.
