NextWave Wireless recently announced that Inquam Broadband GmbH, a majority-owned NextWave subsidiary, has completed its purchase of a 65% controlling interest in WiMAX Telecom AG.
The Zürich, Switzerland based WiMAX Telecom AG has reportedly obtained nationwide wireless broadband spectrum concessions in Austria and Slovakia. The company has also acquired a major spectrum concession in Croatia.
WiMAX (News - Alert) Telecom AG currently operates WiMAX networks in Austria and Slovakia and provides wireless broadband service to 8,500 customers.
NextWave Wireless made news last week for launching its Latin American business operation, NextWave Wireless - Latin America. The company will deliver its broad range of mobile broadband and wireless technology solutions to customers throughout the Latin American region.
Rafael Steinhauser is the president and general manager of the new unit, which is headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
