In a bid to support AT&T (News - Alert) Williams for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, July 8, AT&T will deliver enhanced services to the Grand Prix racing team as part of the ongoing title sponsorship.
The company has recently deployed AT&T's Remote Access Services for the team enabling team members to access the Internet and connect to their corporate network securely from anywhere around the world. Thanks to AT&T’s Remote Access Services, team members have the ability to connect using broadband, Wi-Fi, cellular or public switched telephone network connections.
According to Alex Burns, chief operating officer of Williams F1, they have significantly reduced their direct costs as now traveling staff members no longer have to rely on expensive hotel Internet connections. They have also been able to access tour corporate network at any time, which has increased productivity throughout the organization.
“Typically, AT&T Williams will have around 70 staff members traveling to a European-based Grand Prix, and the ability for them to connect from wherever they are is a real benefit in terms of productivity”, says Martin Silman, AT&T's executive director for Global Portfolio Management in a statement to the press.
“We have recently expanded our footprint of Wi-Fi hot spots and now have more than 50,000 access points in 80 countries,” he added.
AT&T is also providing its advanced Web hosting services to the team's new Web site. Launched at the beginning of the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship season, the Website boasts unique design and offers team and race information. According to the company, the interactivity of the site has been received extremely well by fans.
