San Diego, Calif.-based Franklin Wireless Corp., a provider of wireless broadband high-speed data communications products, announced that it has unveiled its R536 WiMax Wave II embedded Wi-Fi hotspot router for U.S., Latin American and Caribbean markets.
In general, hotspot routers are used in public places to provide Internet access to Internet users via Wi-Fi technology. Precisely, the hotspot site offers Internet access over a wireless local area network (WLAN) by making use of a router that is connected to a link to an Internet service provider.
According to a press release, Franklin Wireless’ (News - Alert) new WiMax embedded Wi-Fi hotspot router is a portable 2.5 GHz band device that features 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, supports Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems and does not require any special software to access network connections.
Weighing approximately 2.46 ounces or 70 grams, the R536 WiMax Wave II embedded Wi-Fi hotspot router is ideal for consumers who require staying connected on the go. Apart from providing easy Wi-Fi connection, the new device features a replaceable and rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
In addition, the new R536 Wi-Fi hotspot router features an intuitive web-based user interface, which facilitates consumers with easy as well as simple set up and network configuration.
Expected to be available in May 2010 through Franklin Wireless and many of its carrier partners, the new R536 was showcased at CTIA (News - Alert) Wireless 2010.
Focusing primarily on wireless broadband Universal Serial Bus modems that provide a convenient way for wireless subscribers to connect to broadband networks with any laptop or desktop PC, Franklin Wireless Corp. not only designs but also sells broadband high speed wireless data communication products such as third and fourth generation wireless modems and modules.
