Impulse Point's Service Module Offering Helps Deploy NAC Based 802.1x Infrastructure

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Impulse Point, a well-known provider of network access control solutions for large enterprise networks, has launched its ground-breaking Safe Connect 802.1x Service Module Offering (SMO). The offering is meant to improve Network Access Control (NAC) solutions for Foundry Networks' (News - Alert) Enterprise Clients. Foundry Networks deals in switching, routing, security and Web traffic management solutions.

Impulse Point’s new offering will allow Foundry Networks customers to deploy NAC based 802.1x technology in a multi-phased approach by providing turnkey professional services support and guidance.

"Enterprise customers see tremendous value in leveraging their 802.1x enabled infrastructure, but are challenged by the complexity and cost associated with designing, testing and deploying NAC technology in a production environment," said Dennis Muley, President of Impulse Point. "Our Safe Connect 802.1x offering focuses on Foundry Networks wireline and wireless switches and routers, offering customers the ability to realize the value of an enterprise NAC solution today, while delivering flexible paths to 802.1x without costly upgrades or disruptions to their operations."

"We are delighted that Impulse Point, a Foundry IronShield 360 Security Alliance Partner, is making this step to support customers running Foundry network infrastructure, using evolving 802.1x standards," said Gary Hemminger, director of product marketing for Foundry Networks. "Safe Connect will deliver the flexibility to deploy multiple NAC quarantine methods within their enterprise LAN-at the router, switch, or the endpoint device-while following a standards-based, open architecture approach."
