The J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study reveals a decrease in the overall rate of customers experiencing a wireless call quality problem. This decline is seen for the third successive reporting period. Such calls have come down by 14 percent since March-April and June-July 2006.
The study assessed wireless call quality on customer-reported problem areas like dropped calls, static and interference, voice distortion and other problems.
Kirk Parsons, senior director of wireless services at J.D. Power and Associates noted that competition is driving wireless providers to strive for superior call quality
"Carriers that offer superior network quality are more likely to attract new customers and increase customer retention," Parsons said in a statement to the press.
"In fact, improving network quality is a beneficial financial incentive for wireless carriers, as customers experiencing at least one call quality problem are almost four times more likely to definitely switch carriers in the future."
