Telenor has released their new product “Trådløs Sone” throughout its wireless hotspot
network at nearly 400 locations in Norway.
The system is simple and flexible for both end-users and Telenor as a service provider and therefore this has lead to many more users per hotspot than in other comparable networks. The new “Trådløs Sone” product is also suitable as a service to businesses due to the flexibility of the billing system.
Aptilo’s Service Management Platform manages Telenor’s hotspot network. This system for delivering and billing of broadband services provides operators with unmatched flexibility in the way they can design their services while being extremely flexible in terms of payment and authentication options.
A unique mix of payment alternatives is offered by Telenor including payment via mobile or broadband subscriptions, SMS, credit cards, via the hotel bill and with scratch cards. The agreement with other service providers allows roaming
for users who are not Telenor customers.
“Aptilo’s products are extremely stable, which has radically reduced the time we need to spend on support and maintenance. This means that we have been able to free valuable time for development of our services,” said Anjali Bhatnagar, Nordic product manager for wireless networks in a
press release.
She continued: “Thanks to the centralised architecture of the Aptilo platform, new hotspots and services can be introduced quickly, which radically reduces the time required for a new wireless zone to become profitable.”
Zakaria Bennani, project manager at Aptilo Networks sees the launch as a very strong acknowledgement of their ability to help and offer operators with large networks an upgrade of their current service platforms, in order to improve their ability to meet customer demands for new services.
Both companies have worked together for many years on Telenor´s WiFi (

This system is suitable for everyone from local Internet providers to nationwide telecom operators and other broadband providers.
