SOMA Networks, Inc. is joining more than 30 other companies in the second public WiMAX Forum in Malaga, Spain. Also known as Mobile WiMAX PlugFest, the WiMAX forum aims to accelerate the launch of broadband wireless products into the market by testing the interoperability of different IEEE systems, including the SOMA FlexMax System.
The forum is the next step in obtaining Mobile WiMAX Certification for SOMA Networks. Products certified by the WiMAX Forum are interoperable and support Metropolitan Broadband Fixed, Portable and Mobile Applications. Mobile WiMAX Certification by the WiMAX Forum will begin in the middle of 2007.
The FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System is a broadband wireless technology that allows service providers to offer a commercially-ready service, providing fast data rates at low subscriber costs. The FlexMAX System is composed of base stations, wireless devices and advanced antenna technologies to provide wide coverage and high state-of-the-art portable and mobile applications with low expansion costs. The FlexMAX System also offers network and traffic management and subscriber gateways. The FlexMAX System also offers personalized subscriber services, such as high-speed data transmission, premium VoIP services and video on-demand. Using an all-IP architecture, existing network services are integrated effortlessly with the FlexMAX system. Services are delivered in compressed timeframes, resulting in a better broadband experience for subscribers, and subsequently, greater revenue for the service providers.
SOMA Networks delivers an all-IP Multimedia Application System which allows uncomplicated integration with other IP-based applications and servers. SOMA Networks also offers planning and performance, deployment, support and training programs and is principal member of the WiMAX Forum.
