The merger between Harris Corporation’s Microwave Communication Division and Stratex Networks ( News - Alert), Inc., creates Harris Stratex Networks, Inc., the largest independent global provider of wireless transmission network solutions with an extensive customer base in 150 countries and revenue of $650 million in 2006.
In this new company, Harris Corporation will own 56 percent share and will be listed on the NASDAQ Global Market starting January 29, 2007. Main offices are located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina with additional headquarters in San Jose, California.
The merger is expected to improve competitiveness, fortify financial capacity to acquire latest technologies, and deliver unique value proposition to the rapidly increasing customer base compared with two-stand alone companies.
“Combining these two businesses creates much greater scale, complementary global distribution channels, and an unmatched end-to-end product portfolio,” said Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation in a press release.
Mr. Guy M. Campbell, a former president of Harris Corporation’s Microwave Communications Division, assumes the post of President and CEO. Former CEO of Stratex Networks, Inc., Tom Waechter, will function as COO while former vice president and controller of Microwave Communications Sally Dudash will be the CFO.
