Zoom Technologies, a company developing VoIP, ADSL and Bluetooth products, announced today it will ship the first batch of its Model 4322 Bluetooth Wireless USB Adapter.
The size of a thumbnail, this low-cost adapter conforms to the Bluetooth Version 2.1 specification for enhanced performance, and improves convenience and safety.
Various Bluetooth adapters available in the market leave 1 ¾” or more exposed, making the adapter and connected computer easily damaged by an accidental drop or twist.
Just less than a ¼” of the Model 4322 is visible after it is plugged into the USB port of a notebook computer or other device. With its reduced size, it safely remains in the USB port, available for quick connection to other Bluetooth devices.
The Model 4322 has a Class 2 radio with a range of up to 10 meters (33 feet), is interoperable with Class 1, 2 and 3 Bluetooth devices, and offers data rates of up to 3Mbps a second.
Version 2.1 Bluetooth provides several benefits over previous Bluetooth versions, including faster pairing, lower power consumption, and improved security.
The Model 4322 provides a Bluetooth wireless connection to another Bluetooth enabled device, such as a modem, mobile phone, headset, another computer, or a peripheral and is RoHS Lead-free compliant.
Apart from providing support for the newest Bluetooth multi-media profiles including A2DP, it can maintain two Bluetooth profiles for a device with which the 4322 communicates. This allows toggling between applications, for instance Bluetooth headphones can be switched between a telephony applications and stereo playback.
The Model 4332 allows faster pairing with other Bluetooth devices, lower power consumption, and improved security, extending support for the latest Bluetooth specification, Version 2.1+EDR.
Although this version is compatible with earlier versions of Bluetooth, but the latest improvements made in the Version 2.1+EDR require the latest Bluetooth version on both ends of the transmission.
The Model 4322 Bluetooth Wireless USB Adapter is available at an estimated retail price of $24.99 in the U.S.
Zoom Technologies develops an array of solutions including Bluetooth products, ADSL modems and gateways, cable modems, Voice over IP adapters and gateways, dial-up modems, and other communications products.
