Worldscout Corporation, a Canadian manufacturer of GPS/cellular based theft deterrent/recovery systems, has taken over Toronto-based Alltigo Inc. which deals in micro- electronic GPS/GSM
devices and embedded software applications.
As a result of the acquisition, the engineering team at Alltigo including its technology specialists, software developers and programmers will become a part of the R&D team at Worldscout.
Apart from this, a real time Personal Location Tracking Device, which has been developed by Alltigo, and is awaiting a patent, will now be a part of the product portfolio of Worldscout. The aforesaid device utilizes AA-GPS and GSM/GPRS
technologies for remotely locating people or mobile assets like vehicles through the Internet.
The real time Personal Location Tracking Device has the ability to track GPS satellites and hold on to the signal better than any other similar gadget. The device has a wireless cellular modem which communicates its location and receives commands over a GSM/GPRS mobile phone network, via TCP/IP
, or SMS text message.
The device, which has position accuracy within a few meters, weighs merely an ounce and measures 90 x 48 x 20mm (3.5 x 1.9 x 0.8"). It has a built-in Lithium-ion battery which can be used for seven days at a stretch and includes a memory which can be used for storing as many as 60,000 locations.
