Imarda, a company that provides solutions for tracking fleets of vehicles, reportedly has announced that it is going to add Vector 300GWP to the Prolificx Vector 300, which is a programmable, and hardware platform range of vehicle tracking devices focused at Telematics and M2M application developers.
Deployment of the new vehicle tracking device Vector 300GWP to the Prolificx Vector 300 range will enable the inclusion of WiFi ( News - Alert) and PLC4Trucks interfaces to the standard features of Vector 300 series. GPRS, GPS, J1939, J1708, CAN, Bluetooth and other interfaces are already supported by the range.
Selwyn Pellett, chief executive officer at Imarda, said that the Vector 300GWP will fulfill the fleet tracking needs of both a “truckload” and “less-than-truckload” where trailer tracking is required.
Pellett said that the inbuilt PLC4trucks interface can monitor trailer hook-and-drops when used with a PLC4Trucks compatible Tag fitted to the trailer, and the interface is supported with a full C++.NET ( News - Alert) API. The technology implements trailer monitoring using Imarda or third-party supplied Trailer Tags.
Whenever a vehicle is within range of an authorized WiFi network, the data can be transferred from the vehicle’s device to a server through the newly added WiFi interface – a process that cuts down the cost of data transfer considerably.
Pellett added that WiFi is a low-cost method of exchanging data that is not time-critical.
The new Vector 300GWP device is equipped with a host of other features and functionalities, including Windows CE 5.0 plus .NET Compact Framework, Intel PXA270 XScale Processor ( News - Alert), 20 channel High Sensitivity SiRF STAR III GPS, GSM/GPRS communications, 802.11 b/g WIFI, Internal PLC4Trucks reader, Bluetooth, USB Host and slave, Digital and Analog IO, 3 Axis Accelerometer, CAN, J1708, J1939 and RS232 interface, SD Card and support to 12V and 24 Automotive power systems.
More that 40,000 Windows CE based vehicle tracking devices by Imarda have been deployed worldwide.
