Hotgate Technology, a provider of hospitality solutions and Internet media services, will soon enter Indonesia, the fourth largest country in the world with a population of close to 240 million.

 

The company, via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hotgate Technology Sdn Bhd, will set up a joint venture company with Indonesian partner, PT Marvel Network Sistem to make inroads into the country.

 

The joint venture company, PT Hotgate Technology Indonesia, will be 30 percent held by Hotgate Technology with PT Marvel holding the remaining 70 percent. The paid-up capital of PT Hotgate will be $500,000.

 

Hotgate Technology's President, Michael Yang, said Indonesia was selected to spearhead the group's growth as the country's economy is expected to see its highest growth in 11 years in 2008.

 

"It is a good time to expand into Indonesia where the economy is expected to increase by 6.8 percent this year and its IT industry forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate of at least 14 percent between 2008 and 2010. By partnering PT Marvel, a well-known company in the ICT field with a good track record and many successful projects to its name, we believe this will give us a good head-start to market our range of hospitality solutions and Internet media services to the hotels and F & B (News - Alert) chains there," said Yang.

 

Yang added that the company’s targets are hotels with 3-star and above ranking and chain F & B outlets.

 

He pointed out that the company hopes to secure between six to 10 hotels as customers within the next three months.

 

According to Yang, Hotgate Technology is also planning to establish a JV company in oil-rich Brunei. Its Brunei operations aim to offer Internet media services via at least 50 free community Wi-Fi hotspots in the country. He hopes to ink the deal within the next two months.

 

Hotgate is an Internet-enabled service provider, providing hospitality solutions to hotels and Internet media services through free community Wi-Fi hotspots.

 

Hotgate is present in six countries in Asia: Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, China, India and Malaysia.

 

The company’s unique solution offerings, expertise and good support service have won the group more than 300 hotels and renowned F & B chains as customers in these countries.
