AAID, KBMS Develop Wireless Inventory and Security Solution

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Say they want to identify assets and create real-time inventory awareness of equipment located in rental and sales lots, AAID Security Solutions and Kiland Business Management Systems have entered into a Strategic Partnership to use AAID’s Ultra Long-Range Radio Frequency Identification Technology.

KBMS’s Software Management system, “Ktrack,” provides a reduction in labor and inventory costs, according to the companies, through improved accountability of company equipment and assets.

Ktrack software provides a Real-Time inventory list of all the assets that are at the facility, company officials say. When a piece of equipment with the AAID Tag either moves from one inventory zone to another or when it enters and leaves the equipment lot, the software creates an alert.

KBMS says it was looking for a solution using RFID equipment and its software, which could provide the company with long-range, dependable and cost-effective equipment. The company worked with AAID to get the best Long-Range RFID products the company could find to reach its objective. Accessible by all workstations through a Web browser, Ktrack client-side Web based software is designed for single or multiple locations, according to the company.

Inventory movement and current location status are reported by Ultra Long-Range RFID Readers and Tags to Ktrack software. Long-Range tags are placed on the facility’s entire asset inventory. To blanket the entire equipment lot, AAID’s Passive Readers create real-time inventory zones by positioning throughout the facility. The zones can be connected to the customer’s local area network or wide area network with wireless connections as they can be tuned well beyond 1,000 ft if WiFi (News - Alert) is used and attached to the Passive readers, company officials say.

AAID’s Readers and Tags also have the ability to provide Real-Time monitoring of personnel, in addition to keeping track of equipment in inventory zones and in and out of the equipment lot. By offering the employees with a RFID badge tag (News - Alert) and creating a serial number to go along with that employee, Ktrack Software is able to identify which employee is moving equipment from zone to zone.

“AAID is excited about our relationship with Kiland and the opportunity to offer them our unique Ultra Long-Range RFID Asset identification features and benefits to their customer base. The AutoAccess products can easily be integrated into their software, thus making asset identification and Real-Time Inventory awareness much easier to manage for the end-user. We also plan to offer the Kiland Ktrack Asset Management Software Solution to all of our Dealers and Systems Integrators for their own use as well,” said Pete Martin, president of AAID Security Solutions.
