In an effort to make its wireless Internet service safer for its customers, Hospitality WiFi (News - Alert) has switched to OpenDNS, a navigation service that makes the Internet safer, faster, smarter and more reliable.

 

Hospitality WiFi provides an advanced Wi-Fi and wired networking solutions for high-speed Internet access available to hotel guests, convention center exhibitors, corporate apartment residents, special event participants and other venues. The company was searching for a DNS service that was both superior to the basic service provided by the ISPs - offering phishing protection and Web-content filtering - and that could be used at all of the properties, Lead Systems and Support.

 

OpenDNS said that Engineer Brandon Miller from Hospitality WiFi decided to deploy their solution after a suggestion from his co-worker. Miller informed that they used each individual ISP's DNS settings, which are rather difficult to keep accurate track of. OpenDNS is a solution to this problem. They also found phishing filter to be an excellent feature. OpenDNS helps them protect Internet users from going to phishing sites and submitting private information to nefarious parties.

 

Miller was also impressed by the additional features and tools offered by OpenDNS. Even though their company wanted to expand into areas and businesses where stricter content filtering is needed, they didn’t have a Web content filtering solution available prior to OpenDNS. Hospitality WiFi can make its goals of expansion a reality thanks to OpenDNS’s easy-to-use Web content filtering options.  

 

Miller said that he would definitely recommend OpenDNS to others as their experience with the service has been very positive and are looking forward to using OpenDNS at more and more installations.
