Parker Hannifin Acquires Vansco Electronics

By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Parker Hannifin recently announced it took over Vansco Electronics. Parker is a motion and control technology provider, and Vansco Electronics manufactures rugged electronic controls, terminals, monitors, sensors and communication and operator interfaces. These controls are largely implemented in heavy equipment and other applications where rugged controls are required.

This take over will enable Parker to fulfill its ambition of greater integration in its products. The strategy of the company was to successfully fuse various motion and control technologies, particularly in the mobile sector. Vansco Electronics has prior expertise in this very area, and therefore makes this innovation more possible.

The idea of acquiring Vansco Electronics was to leverage the knowledge it contains, in relation to designing and producing rugged and sophisticated electronic, electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic devices. Essentially the products are used mainly in the fields of agriculture, construction, materials handling, buses, RVs and specialty truck equipment.

“We are excited to be able to welcome Vansco to the Parker organization and to strengthen still further the solutions that we offer our customers. In particular, Vansco’s range of controls complement our existing IQAN controllers and sensors, allowing us to offer customers integrated motion control systems for mobile equipment, backed by Parker’s extensive global support and technical expertise,” said Jeff Cullman, group president for hydraulics, Parker Hannifin.

“Additionally, Parker and Vansco share a common customer base, with the combined strength of the two companies enhancing our ability to engineer dedicated solutions that help to improve the productivity and profitability of our customers' products,” he continued.

Vansco will be assimilated in the global operations division of Parker Hannifin. The company will be handling mostly the hydraulic technology business segment of Parker Hannifin. The product range will be comprehensive including hydraulic components and systems including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hydraulic drives, energy recovery systems, and vehicle cooling and engine management systems.

“We have been aware of Parker as the motion and control leader for quite some time,” said Niels Erik Hansen, chief executive officer, Vansco. “We are pleased that Parker, an established leader in many of Vansco's markets, will significantly expand our capability to service our many valued mobile equipment customers.”
