Alert) Technologies and Vodafone have introduced their first co-branded 3G handset, the V710. It is the first 3G handset to be co-developed by the two companies, following Huawei’s exclusive agreement with Vodafone in February to manufacture and supply Vodafone-branded handsets in 21 countries for the next five years.
The dual-mode handset works on WCDMA/GPRS/GSM networks and enables users to access Vodafone services including Vodafone Radio DJ, Mobile TV, music downloads, video telephony and Vodafone live. The lightweight handset also includes an MP3 player, a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth. The V710UK will be available in Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Greece, the Netherlands, Romania and Portugal later this month.
Guo Ping, president of Huawei Terminals Business, said the two companies worked closely to determine the specifications, configuration and external design of the V710.
“In line with our strong tradition of taking a customer-centric approach, Huawei has strictly complied with the product development roadmap, including intense research and development, production excellence and stringent testing to guarantee on time delivery of the V710,” Ping said in a press release.
Although the press release announcing the new phone’s launch refers to it as being “affordable,” it does not mention the price.
