Wifi Revolution

Viewpoint School - the sixth largest independent school in the California Association of Independent Schools, in Calabasas, Calif. - has reportedly selected Xirrus’ WiFi (News - Alert) products for the deployment of a campus-wide wireless broadband network.

Both staff and students will benefit from the new network, which has the capacity to deliver high speed Internet, voice and video services. In addition, the network can be used for video surveillance for security purposes, as well as event broadcasting.

“Our existing network lacked the capacity, manageability, features and security to keep pace with the growing technological needs of the students and faculty. We needed a solution that would be able to handle increasingly complex and bandwidth-heavy applications,” said Paul Rosenbaum, associate headmaster and COO of Viewpoint School, in a press release. “Xirrus’ WiFi solution was able to help Viewpoint fully utilize the school’s facilities with portable classrooms, flexible study areas and support a wide range of wireless clients.”

Included in the network are 12 Xirrus Arrays (including two XS-3900s, nine XS-3700s and one XS-3500); one XM-3300 Management Platform and two XS-3100 Remote Power Systems. Each WiFi Array is able to support three classrooms. The network provides coverage for the entire 25-acre campus – and serves about 1,200 students and faculty.
