Ekahau (News - Alert) Inc., which offers Wi-Fi-based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), has launched Ekahau Vision, a web-based visual interface that enables a turnkey RTLS solution for real-time asset and people tracking over any existing Wi-Fi network.

Real Time Locating Systems are completely automated systems that constantly track the locations of assets and personnel. This new product offers superior tracking accuracy but at the same time is very simple to use.

Ekahau Vision is the first RTLS Application Using Rich Internet Applications that delivers a tracking visualization tool, richer and more responsive than other traditional web applications. Designed to improve asset utilization and workflow, the system is very user friendly. In addition it is easy to install -- it works on any generation or brand of standard enterprise Wi-Fi equipment.

Antti Korhonen, president and CEO of Ekahau, said in a press release that this launch has significantly strengthened the company’s application software portfolio. He said the Vision application offers fast return on investment and follows the current trend of consumerization of enterprise IT applications. He said no other tool in the industry offers the ability to monitor, query and collect asset data in such an easy and visual way.

Rich Internet Application (RIA) is emerging as an imperative technology in web applications. Ekahau Vision makes use of RIA, thus positioning itself as unique and superior real-time application. RIA enables Ekahau to deliver a rich and more responsive tracking visualization tool.

When used with the Ekahau Positioning Engine (EPE), Ekahau Vision enables enterprises to identify, from any Internet-enabled device, the real-time and historical location of objects and individuals with building-, floor- and room-level accuracy.

Ekahau Vision also incorporates zone functionality within the software, thereby allowing the system users to create virtual checkpoints anywhere in a building or on a campus.

Ekahau RTLS with Ekahau Vision offers users the best cost /performance ratio in the industry and facilitates tracking of 40,000 objects on a single server across more than 100 million square feet and locating up to 800 objects per second.

Ekahau Vision is made commercially available and all customers currently having a support contract for Ekahau Finder or Ekahau Tracker are eligible for free upgrades to Ekahau Vision.
